Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio was incorporated on September 16, 2004, to fund not-for-profit healthcare services and education throughout Bexar County and contiguous counties in South Texas.

More than 100 years ago, a group of San Antonio physicians planted the seeds that grew to become Baptist Health System (BHS). Since its affiliation with the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT) in 1952, BHS successfully ministered to both the physical and spiritual health of its patients.

When the BHS Board of Trustees recognized that economic hardships threatened to compromise the system’s ability to provide exceptional care, the system was sold in 2003 to Vanguard Health Systems of Nashville, TN. In 2013, Vanguard Health Systems was sold to Tenet Healthcare Corporation of Dallas, TX.

The Foundation is pleased to be a participating member of the family of BGCT institutions.

By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it…  For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
