Giving Smarter

Many people who want to impact the health of the community well into the future like to name the Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio as a beneficiary of these instruments:

    • Wills and Bequests
    • Life Insurance
    • Retirement Assets (IRA, 401K, 403B, pension, or other tax-deferred plans)
    • Charitable Gift Annuity
    • Charitable Remainder Trust
    • Charitable Lead Trust
    • Life Estate

You can establish a named endowed fund with a gift or commitment of $50,000 or more to honor the legacy of yourself or a loved one while supporting the programs of the Foundation. Only the earnings from your fund will be used. The permanently named fund you establish is open-ended and can be added to at any time in the future.

If you are 70½ or older, you may be interested in a way to lower the income and taxes from your IRA withdrawals. An IRA charitable rollover is a way you can help improve the health of San Antonio and benefit this year.

Benefits of an IRA charitable rollover

  • Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $100,000 from your IRA
  • Satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year
  • Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions
  • Make a gift that is not subject to the 50% deduction limits on charitable gifts

Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.
